SAHASRA DEEPIKA, NGO — EVERY CHILD DESERVES A PAPER ROCKET

Sahasra Deepika is an Indian NGO that educates orphans and underprivileged children.

The brief: A leaflet to help get donations.

The challenge: Hardly any budget, resistance to donate, lack of awareness and interest.

The creative idea: The paper rocket metaphor.

The leaflet uses the idea of the paper rocket as a symbol of a happy, carefree childhood. Something these children didn’t have. What they did have was oodles of talent. We used some beautiful existing drawings of the children to make paper rockets which were stuck to the leaflet. These were then sent out to potential donors with the cover page line reminding everyone that, “ Every child deserves a paper rocket.” The various donation plans were also branded as paper rockets. So each person can gift a child a paper rocket and the means to fly high thorough education. In return, they get to keep the paper rocket in the leaflet.

The result: Significant donations for the client, happy clients, happy kids who loved that their drawings were used, and most importantly, more kids getting the education they deserve.
